This year, Sprint at the PalaceSquare has reached international level. Russian athletes competed against roller skiers from Kazakhstan, Estonia, Belarus and Finland. Every year the competition attracts thousands of fans and helps to draw attention to the skiing.
The winners of the competition were Ivan Anisimov from St. Petersburg, among men, and Ksenia Konokhova from the Novgorod region, among women. Andrey Parfenov came second in men's sprint. The third place was fought over the Olympic champions Alexander Legkov and Nikita Kryukov. The former won.
The legends of modern sport also came to support the roller skiers in the knockout sprint. In the main square of St. Petersburg met Viktor Ahn, Oksana Kazakova, Lyubov Yegorova, Maria Gusakova, Anatoly Alyabyev, Dmitry Vasiliev, Nina Baldycheva, Lubov Mukhacheva, Nikolay Zimyatov, Yuri Kashkarov, Nikolay Kruglov.
